Foundational Culture™ series

The MiViVa series on Foundational Culture™ comprises three core modules. Each one is packed with information & tools to allow you to immediately make a change to your business. With a focus on pragmatic and simple advice for the business owner and leader you will learn how powerful culture is in making your business successful, competitive and enduring.

If you’re not sure why not try out the Foundational Culture Light Touch module which covers all three areas but with a major focus on the culture creation.

The challenge

So what’s the problem?

For a highly trained healthcare professional operating in a private setting the focus is primarily on how to operationalise their skills & knowledge. Time is invested in premises, marketing, hiring, websites, pricing, cash-flow, VAT, profit & loss. These are all important and no business can succeed without doing these well. But they are so often conducted in the absence of a conscious culture and clearly defined strategy.

Why culture?

Peter Drucker, one of the world’s most influential names in business management once said “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” He didn’t mean that strategy was unimportant – far from it. A good strategy is key. What he meant was that without a strong culture that strategy would be unlikely to succeed. You need both, but the first must be culture.

The building blocks of culture ultimately influence how people behave. Those behaviours, the visible elements of a culture, are based on the invisible elements of beliefs and values. The beliefs and values are enormously powerful. They act like the roots of a tree – without them the tree cannot flourish.

All businesses have their own culture. If you don’t define and set your culture then one will still emerge, but it may not be what you want it to be. Culture can be a major reason why people join your business and stay, either as employee or clients. Equally it can be the reason they leave.

Increasingly purpose, (a Company’s Mission), is important to consumers who are making purchasing and loyalty decisions which are heavily influenced by their degree of alignment to a business – based on its mission. If you, as a business owner/leader, don’t know your mission then your staff and customers can’t. Articulating your mission is arguably THE first task of a leader and starts to set your business culture. There is more, but this is the key starting point of Foundational Culture™.

Get your culture right and you unlock the true potential of your people. They, (and you), become Sustainably Engaged. In doing so you all deliver more productivity and sustained profitability.

Why strategy?

A strong strategy is critical for business success – possibly for survival. Simply put as where to play and how to win, it’s critical to get it right. The absence of a clear and effective strategy means that decision-making is purely judgement-based at the time. Sometimes the decision might be right, but if it is not consistently right the business will not prosper and may even fail. But that process can be slow, insidious and barely discernible.

Once your culture is in place, turning your attention to your strategy is the next logical leadership step. MiViVa can help you. With practical learnings and techniques, you can begin to take charge of your own culture and develop your own business strategy. Once these are in place everything else becomes logical and easier.

Performance Management is the process of supporting the individuals in your business to reach their true potential. This takes time, thought, openness and investment but the rewards can be amazing.

We all hope that all of our hires work out well, stay with us and turn into productive, loyal team members. But it doesn’t always work that way. This module gives you the tools and confidence to implement Performance Improvement Plans for those employees who are not performing as you would wish. The goal will always be to improve performance and get everything back on track, but in some cases, the individual and the job aren’t right for each other and the best thing for the business, (and the employee), is to part company. Learn how to do this compassionately, professionally, compliantly and quickly. The speed at which leaders act could mean the difference between keeping your good employees, (who will appreciate decisive action), or losing them.

Pricing policy

Value

At MiViVa our focus is on value rather than cost. Pricing is designed to offer real value-for-money and each module distils 35 years’ of industry experience, cross-referenced by peer reviewed or published data sources where at all possible, all delivered by a passionate industry leader.

Flat pricing

In private medicine time is money. A half day event often means most of a day out of clinic, coupled with travel and subsistence costs and this represents an opportunity cost that many clinic owners would rather avoid. Equally, the forced isolation that many have endured in 2020 has left us wanting human company and the chance to attend an in-person event where you can mingle with your industry peers is long-awaited.

Either way, MiViVa gives you the choice. The price is the same whether you attend online or in-person, thereby removing pricing from your decision-making. For more information Enquire HERE.

Bursary Assisted scheme

As a special recognition for those starting out in the private medicine arena, a limited number of MiViVa Bursary Assisted places will be made available. These places are strictly limited to those in their first year of trading and qualify for a 50% discount. This policy recognises the fact that new practitioners have numerous demands on their finances at a time when free cash flow will almost certainly be non-existent. For the criteria please see below.

Bursary Assisted places criteria:

  • Your business must be no more than one year old, (the one year window), at the date of the event. Please provide your Company Number. Note: a Companies House search will be undertaken to confirm your date of incorporation
  • If booked as three modules, all three dates need to fall within the one year window to qualify
  • You must not have had a prior business or held any majority shareholding in any other prior businesses
  • You must hold a current GMC/NMC/GDC registration OR be a business partner of a registered healthcare professional. Note: a professional register check will be made to validate your application.
  • No more than one application per business will be accepted. Booking onto three modules as a single booking will qualify for the Bursary Assistance, but if booked singly only the first will qualify
